"The Grand Banks 38 Eastbay EX rides a solid fiberglass deep-vee hull designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates... Prop pockets reduce draft to slightly more than 3 feet. The wide side decks and full-length side rails allow easy movement around the boat. The raised bridge deck (with engines below) has a well-appointed helm station to starboard, laid out with a large instrument console and room for a navigation station." ~ Steve Knauth for Soundings

Clean example of Grand Banks popular East Bay 38. Owned by a life long yachtsman, and enjoyed by him and his family for the past 15 years. She is a one owner boat, kept on a travel lift it's entire life and covered with a full hull and deck cover to protect her from the Florida sun when she is not being enjoyed by her Family. The motors are rinsed with fresh water after every use, negating corrosion. She has a care taker that runs every single electronic and piece of machinery at least once a month.

Drawing only 3'8", she's perfect for the Bahamas, or any other island hopping you plan to do. Her wide open cockpit and salon leave plenty of space to sit back and relax, and her voluminous cabin allow you to spend your downtime in total comfort.

Additional Information

Down below, the quality and tradition of Grand Banks is clearly evident. To port is a well equipped galley complete with a three-burner stove and oven, a large stainless steel sink and the same customized heavy duty refrigerator icebox that has become such a popular feature on the Grand Banks cruisers. With an abundance of storage cabinets and counter space, one can create a gourmet meal as easily as a light snack. A built-in exhaust fan and overhead hatch add to the open, fresh-air atmosphere of the galley. Adjacent to the galley is a dining/saloon area featuring a beautifully crafted teak table surrounded on three sides by a comfortable settee. The table can be lowered to create a double berth for overnight guests. Built-in teak bookcases, storage compartments and special lighting fixtures provide a warm and cozy yachting environment. A large head with a wrap-around shower is accessed through a sliding teak door. Featuring a large, molded sink and vanity with storage compartments, the head is bright and well ventilated with its own opening port. The forward stateroom can be built either in the traditional V-berth style or with an optional double island bed. With either layout, the stateroom provides comfort and privacy for the cruising couple. The berths are surrounded by storage compartments, and there is additional storage below the bunk arrangements and in the hanging locker.
On deck, the Eastbay shows its cruising heritage. The varnished toerail highlights her traditional lines. Wide, non-skid side decks and sturdy stainless steel grabrails provide a sense of security when going forward to handle lines or the anchor. Safety at sea continues to be a part of the Grand Banks tradition.
Merging the timeless tradition of Grand Banks's craftsmanship with the legendary Ray Hunt modified deep-V hull with a transom deadrise of 20 degrees, the Eastbay 38 Express is the ideal balance of style and performance. Powered by a variety of diesel options, top speeds of over 30 knots are achievable. Cruising speeds of 15-25 knots are both comfortable and economical. Estimated speed and fuel consumption tables are available to help you decide which engines best fit your cruising style. One's first impression is that of an extremely smooth, dry ride, even in a rough chop. With her short keel, she tracks very well in a variety of conditions and speeds. Maneuvering in tight spots is a breeze. Underway, the captain is in command of a thoughfully organized helm station that is located on a raised helm deck for superb, all-around visibility. A comprehensive set of guages and meters provides accurate monitoring of mechanical equipment. First time guests are always surprised at how quiet the Eastbay is. Sitting in the cockpit, one can easily have a conversation even at cruising speeds. This quiet ride is attributable to the overall quality of construction and special attention to sound reducing details in the engine room. Access to the engine room is through an electro-hydraulic assisted hatch conveniently located on the helm deck. Below, the captain will find a well organized layout providing ample room on both sides of each engine for easy maintenance and service. All wiring is harnessed and well labeled. Large bronze seacocks and double hose clamps throughout reflect the overall attention Grand Banks has paid to long term dependability and safety.
