From the picturesque island of Nosy Be to the tranquil hideaways that abound on the tiny virgin islands of the Mitsio archipelago, discover some of the very best and most untouched areas of this legendary region.

Day 1: Nosy Be
Begin your journey from Madagascar’s biggest and brightest island, boasting some of Africa’s most stunning beaches. Enjoy a day relaxing on the soft sands, diving in one of the island’s deep creeks or hiking through forest hiding chameleons and lemurs. Spend the night on this fragrant isle before beginning the journey north to the Mitsio archipelago.

Day 2: Nosy Be – Nosy Ankarea – Grande Mitsio
Depart Nosy Be in the early morning for the archipelago’s biggest and only inhabited island, Grande Mitsio. On the way stop at the beautiful Nosy Ankarea that shelters a peaceful bay perfect for snorkeling and diving. Arrive at Grande Mitsio in the afternoon, docking at the small village of Maribe where the hospitality of the Malagasy people is as welcoming as the colorful landscape.

Day 3: Grande Mitsio – Tsarabanjina – Nosy Komba
On route to the tropical, mountainous island of Tsarabanjina you will pass the sublime islets known as “the four brothers” or Efatra Zoky. These underwater landscapes attract scuba divers from around the world. A short sail away is the island itself, renowned for its soft white beaches and wonderfully clear waters. A four hour sail brings the lemur refuge of Nosy Komba where the tiny animals can be hand-fed.

Day 4: Nosy Komba – Nosy Tanikely – Russians Bay
The route to Russians Bay passes the warm waters of Nosy Tanikely where the multicolored marine life is visible directly from the deck. Drop anchor amongst the clear waters or simply admire the submarine fauna as you pass. Russians Bay, named for the Russian soldiers dispatched to the island during the Russo Japanese War, offers superb opportunities to catch a glimpse of dolphins and makes for a perfect overnight location.
